Bill Tucker reports . . .

Phew, that was some day. Champagne sailing is what adults do, so maybe this was coke sailing. Sunshine for most of the time and wind that went up and down (and left a bit) but essentially in the 17 – 21kt range. Seriously hard and challengeing. Performers of the day were Rob & Emma Loveridge who knocked out a 1-5-1 – and in the 5 Rob managed to fall overboard leaving Emma to work out that the chump had abandoned her, climb into the rear end, sail back to chump and retrieve him. I’d just love to have seen the expression on her face when she got back to Rob!

Marshall King (one of our fine Olympians) sailing with Robbie was kept out of 2nd by Tim Johnson also sailing with a nipper – Jack. Gold/Silver fleet is decided on the results so far and they take their position from the Q Series as a first result in the Final series.

Given that Monday is still a very light forecast much could change tomorrow. There is only a discard in the final series once they have sailed 3 races in it.

Our Dutch visitors had a cracking final day, poor sods had to go because school was expecting them back tomorrow. Will Acres and Ed Bowman have their work cut out though – they always come 13th (it’s a class rule thing) but after a pre-1st race breakage and a black flag in the 3rd race a 10th in the middle wasn’t ging to do much good. Birthday girl Vikki Payne with super Steffi Orton collected a nice 2,4 as a treat, whilst returning heroes Team Kernow got it all together in the middle race to win by a country mile.

Ruth & Tess Allan had an up/not so up day with a 1,15,6. Bizarrest result of the day was Matt Whitfield and Gareth Viner from Penarth – leading at least 2 of the races with fantastic speed to burn and picking the right way to go they managed to score 3 (yes three!!!) black flags to currently lie in 120th – behind even those who had sensibly decided it was too much for them and didn’t go out. Expect fireworks tomorrow...

First day of RS Feva National Championships being held at Hayling Island SC was cancelled due to strong winds.
