NOTE - Weekend A3 closures at Hindhead - Interest to those travelling to Hayling via the A3

There are yellow "advance notice of road closure" signs on the A3 approaching Hindhead. The signs appear to describe total closure at Hindhead from night of Friday 1st Oct to the wee hours of Monday 4th Oct. The signs only appear to mention that weekend.

BUT: http://www.highways.gov.uk/roads/projects/13919.aspx says:

Over the weekends of 1-4 and 8-11 October between 10.00pm Friday and 5.00am Monday we plan to close the existing A3 around the Punchbowl to enable us to clear trees alongside the existing A3 in preparation for returning the road to nature once the new A3 is open. We need to to the work at this time as this is the last winter period outside the bird nesting season (when such work is very difficult) before the tunnel opens to traffic. Diversion for long distance A3 traffic will be via the A31 and A325 between Guildford and Longmoor. Local A3 traffic for Hindhead would use the A31 and A287.
