The Flying Fifteen World Championship at HISC will incorporate the British Isles National Championship as the Pre-Worlds event. Total entry is 133 including all fleets.

Graham Vials and Chris Turner are new Flying 15 World Champions - Thursday 28 July . . .

After finishing fifth in the penultimate race Graham Vials and Chris Turner were able to head back to HISC for an early shower after winning the 2011 Flying 15 World Championships at Hayling Island SC.

Mike Hart and Richard Rigg won the first race of the final day, second Greg Wells and Mark Darling and in third Arnaud Biet and Fabien Constant of France. Vials and Turner finished fifth to take the title with a race to spare. In the final race the 2010 champions, Grant Alderson and Dean McAullay from Australia took the final gun. Second were Russell Peters and Tim Hall with Hart and Rigg in third.

The Classic and Silver fleets completed their series. Bobby Salmond and Robert Till GBR627, from Holy Loch SC are the 2011 Classic Flying 15 Champions and Malcolm and Alex Hall from Burton SC took the Silver event title. - GN

Graham Vials and Chris Turner dominate the racing on Wednesday 27 July . . .

The main worlds fleet completed one race which was won by Graham Vials and Chris Turner. Second was Ian Cleaver and Steve Milne, third Brett Dingwall and Jonathan Clark. Vials and Turner now have a 15 point lead ahead of Mike and Gemma McIntyre, with two more races possible. The second race was abandoned. - GN

Monday, Day 4 at Flying 15 World Championship . . .

F15 Gold Fleet 1st Mike and Gemma McIntyre won race 7, the first gold fleet race. 2nd Graham Vials and Chris Turner who keep their overall lead in the championship. 3rd were David Tucker and Matt Summers AUS. Mike and Gemma Mcintyre are now second overall with 3rd Jeremy Davy and Simon Childs

Bobby Salmond and Robert Till in GBR627 from the Holy Loch SC have three victories but also carry a DSQ from race two, when they sailed the wrong course. Closely tracking them with three, second places and a DSQ are David Morgan and Lorena Walden in GBR2663 from Llangorse SC. - GN

Giant strides for some on Day 3 at Flying 15 World Championship . . .

Three more races in a good breeze got the Flying 15 Worlds back on schedule Sunday. Mike and Gemma McIntyre headed the list of winners with a 1, 5, 1 score line. Series leader Graham Vials and Chris Turner keep their overall lead, winning their first flight race but suffering a black flag DSQ in the final race. Other race winners were Andy McKee and Richard Jones, Russell Peters and Tim Hall, and Mike Hart and Richard Rigg.

Winners in the Classic/Silver fleet were Bobby Salmond and Robert Till in Classic GBR627 from the Holy Loch SC. Malcolm and Alex Hall, keep the overall lead and first Silver boat. First Classic overall are Gavin Cassidy and Lucy Clough.

Vials and Turner lead Flying 15 World Championship - Day 2

Two races completed on day 2 of the Flying 15 World Championships at Hayling Island SC. Another day of shifts and holes for the fleets. Winners in the Blue fleet were first race Greg Wells and Mark Darling. Second race Russell Peters and Tim Hall. Winners in the Yellow fleet were Graham Vials and Chris Turner taking both races, which with a third from day 1 puts them clear leaders overall, 14 points ahead of Ron Packer and Peter Mudford from Australia, with Wells and Darling in third place.

Leaders Flying 15 World Championship - Day 1

Only one race was completed on day 1 of the Flying 15 World Championships at Hayling Island SC. It was a frustrating light wind day for the fleets with constant shifts frustrating the PRO in setting a start. Winner in the Blue fleet were Brian McKee and Ian Smyth from Ireland. Winner in the Yellow fleet were James Sandell and Graeme Robinson from New Zealand. Winners in the Classic/Silver fleet were Bobby Salmond and Mike Leydon and first Silver boat, Michel D'Almeida and Erwan Gouriou from France.

Flying 15 World Championship Thursday 21 July . . .

The 18th Flying 15 World Championships were officially opened by the Mayor of Havant, Ken Smith, at the Hayling Island Sailing Club. The competitors were welcomed by Greg Wells, Commodore of the International Class Association who thanked the British Class Association, the Club and the members for the work they had put in to bring this event to the UK and also for the running of the National Championship, which had formed the pre-event to the Worlds.

Flying 15 British Championship Wednesday 20 July . . .

All racing abandoned on the final day of the 2011 Flying 15 British Nationals at Hayling Island SC. The new British National Champions are Steve Goacher and Phil Evans. In second place Russell Peters and Tim Hall, with Charles Apthorp and Gavin Tappenden in third place tied on points with Greg Wells and Mark Darling.

After four races Steve Goacher and Phil Evans lead the 2011 Flying 15 British Nationals at Hayling Island SC. They have a two point lead from Russell Peters and Tim Hall, with Charles Apthorp and Gavin Tappenden in third place tied on points with Greg Wells and Mark Darling. Alex and Mike Tatlow continue to lead the Classic & Silver event.

All racing cancelled for Flying 15 British Championship Sunday 17 July . . .

Racing cancelled for the Sunday, 17 July, first racing day of the Flying 15 British Championship. A change to the Sailing Instructions has been issued to allow the first start to be one hour earlier on Monday, at 12:00 hrs. The intention is to run three races on Monday 18 July.

Flying 15 British Championship competitors welcomed to HISC . . .

Following the cancellation of the Flying 15 Nationals practice race on Saturday, the class will be champing at the bit to sail Sunday, with the first two scheduled races. Unfortunately conditions are forecast to continue with strong winds and could provide a tough introduction to English summer sailing.

Flying 15 Championships face tough conditions for Opening Weekend

It's been around for more than 50 years but enthusiasim for the Flying 15 keelboat continues to grow. This weekend will see the start of two weeks of intense competition with the British Nationals and the 18th running of the World Championship titles taking place.

Over 100 of the Uffa Fox designed, two-man keelboat will take to the waters of the Solent from the Hayling Island SC, with boats of over 40 years old competing with new boats launched for this event.
