- What boats do you sail?

- Regular class and handicap racing is held for a wide range of dinghy classes including; Solo, RS200, RS700, RS800, Flying Fifteen, Wayfarer, International 14, International Canoe, Optimist, RS Feva and the RS Elite keelboat. A full list of Classes and Class Captains is available.
Non-class cruiser racing is organised during the summer months and there is a cruiser winter race series. In addition there is an active Social Sailing section who organise events and sailing visits to local clubs during the summer season.
- When is the race season?

- There is an early season, open asymmetric dinghy series (HEWL) in February and March. The main sailing season lasts from March/April, with racing each Saturday and Sunday, until late Autumn. To finish the year there is an open winter series for dinghies on Saturdays and Sundays from early November to mid-December culminating with the Christmas Cracker. See the Race Fixtures
In addition many Open Meetings and Class Championships are held at HISC. During the summer holidays, there are special events for juniors.
- What facilities are there for my family?

- Apart from several sandy beaches, there are two accomodation blocks and full clubhouse facilities are available in the new clubhouse, opened in March 2003 by HRH The Princess Royal.

Club Opening Hours

The Club Office is open from 0900hrs to 1700hrs Monday to Sunday. Opening hours for the Dining Room and Bars vary throughout the year, reflecting the sailing activities. See the Dining pages for details.
- What social activities are there?

- The Club has a lively social programme. Some of the regular
functions are the Summer Ball, Hallowe'en & Christmas parties
and a New Year's Eve dance. During the season, events such as
BBQs, film nights, discos and dances are arranged.
- What is the membership policy?

- We wish to encourage all those keen on active participation in sailing to join our Club. Newcomers are offered probationary membership for a limited period in order that they may enjoy all our facilities and get to know their fellow members before becoming full members.
If you would like to join, please fill in the Application Form and send it to the Club. We shall then arrange an interview for you.
- What are the membership categories and costs?

- The membership categories, current subscription rates and the boat class registration fees are available at the Fees page.
- How can I help?

- The Club is mainly operated by professional staff, but members
are required to help in race organisation and/or by manning safety
boats. It is also expected that members should lend a hand with
the winter work parties.
- Are there any rules I should know about?

- When your subscription and entry fees are received, you will be given a full set of current rules and bye-laws.
- Can I stay at HISC?

- A range of accommodation is available on site at HISC. From basic bunk bed type accommodation to rooms with full en-suite facilities. See the Accommodation section for details and prices.
- Can I camp or stay in my mobile home at HISC?

- Local rules do not allow tents, caravans or camper vans are to be used on the HISC Club property which includes the causeway. No vehicles are to be used for overnight sleeping. All competitors at open events agree to be bound by the Bye-Laws of Hayling Island Sailing Club.
- I own a RIB, can I join HISC and store my RIB there?

- If your only boat is a Rib and your reason for joining is to store the Rib at HISC then I'm afraid not. However, If you have a sailing boat and also a Rib then we would welcome your membership. All members can apply for one of the limited Rib berths. You would be unlikely to get a berth for a few years as there is a waiting list. See the HISC Policy section.
- If I own a keel boat can I store it onshore at HISC in the winter?

- Yes, but there is a procedure and cost which is managed by the Cruising Committee.
- Does HISC support any of the sailing classes for the disabled?

- HISC does not have a policy of supported classes. HISC has active classes in most of the different types of boats (single hander, twin trapeze etc). Currently, we don't have any active disabled class boats but would welcome any prospective new member with a disabled class.
- Does the club run any Race Officer and/or safety boat training programmes?

- Yes, HISC run RYA Powerboat Courses. Also, RYA Race Officer courses (Club and Regional) are run from HISC and other clubs around the harbour. HISC also runs internal Race Officer training which is directed at the way we run racing at HISC. See the HISC Training section
- Does the club teach junior members to sail?

- Yes. HISC has a very active and excellent Youth Committee that handles youth training and development. See the HISC Youth section

- Are there any chandlery facilities at HISC?

- Yes, HISC has its own on-site chandlery, which is run by Harbour Chandlers Ltd. It is situated just beyond the accommodation blocks at the Club. They stock Holt, Ronstan, Harken, RWO, Topper, Laser, Mirror and Optipart fittings as well as clothes from Crewsaver, Gul, Gill, Baltic and Musto, ropes from Marlow and Liros and a wide selection of screws, split pins, repair tapes and much more! They also offer a repair service for sail, harnesses, dry suits and rigging. Swageing is also available at the Emsworth shop.

- Can I sail from HISC if I am not a member?

- Yes, Day sailors must get permission from the HISC Office and complete an insurance declaration prior to going afloat. Day sailors may not participate in club racing without the prior agreement of the class captain. Groups of sailors must be approved the The Manager.
Note that members or members guests bringing a non-registered boat to HISC must pay the appropriate day fee. Guests and visitors are requested to leave their cars in the visitors car park.

- Is there a launch facility avalable from HISC to boats on moorings?

Yes, a club launch runs from the north pier - to call the ferry use VHF M (channel 37) Call sign "Selene". Operating from: 13 to 21 March Sat/Sun - 1000 - 1800hrs. 27 March to 18 April Sat/Sun/Bank Holidays 0800 - 2000hrs. And 23 April to 29 August, Fri - 1500 - 2300hrs., Sat - 0800 - 2300hrs., Sun - 0800 - 2130hrs.
- Can I hold a private function at the club?
