Most of the Mirror Class is VERY seasonal and VERY weather dependent - so the fact that we had good weather this Summer meant that many parents had the confidence to get small children on to the water without fear of putting them off sailing for life! This was particularly noticeable at Family Fun Week which saw a dozen or so Mirrors take to the water throughout the week.
With 1986 Mirror World Champion, Ian Walker back in the boat to show us and his kids how it's done, there was a pretty competitive edge to the Thursday fleet race with a few spinnakers being flown despite the little ones on board!
This paints the picture for the majority of the class, but it should be noted that young Max Odell has been steadily making a name for himself on the racing circuit this year - crewing to 3rd place in the Mirror Nationals at Brightlingsea and then winning the Europeans. We're very proud!
