Ladies Who Lunch . . .

The days are definitely getting longer, and there is the hint of spring in the air, its now light when we start our bridge, boat maintenance is beginning to be seriously thought about, birds are singing and frogs and newts are present in our pond, oh and the daffodils are coming out! I wax lyrical!  (what does that mean)?

At any rate the spring is certainly on its way and that means that we are drawing to the end of the Ladies Who Lunch season. We have the following dates to keep you busy till the end of April for this part of 2008.

Feb. 15th 12.00-12.30 Meet in the Bar, 1.00p.m. Lunch, and at 2p.m. John Barber has very kindly offered to give us a talk on "the French Canals"  Because we feel the "men" might be interested in this, we would be delighted if they would come and join us at 2 p.m in the training room to hear the talk.

Friday March 15th. Meet in the Bar. but I thought this is a meeting we might have  without a speaker, so that people could just natter etc. However as it is probably our last convential meeting of the year, it might be a good idea to have an informal discussion s on a) plans for the 2008/9 season, and b) making sure that we are fully organised for the 2 meetings that we have in April (watch this space!) I am flying up to Liverpool (sounds grand!) for yet another family wedding celebration in the afternoon, so could we have our informal discussion in the bar starting at say 11.30 a.m.

Friday April 18th. Again meet in the Bar at 12-12.30 p.m. etc. We will have a talk at 2p.m. by Belinda Cook on the History of HISC, mainly on the 60's-70's era, but also with a few add-ons. Again the Men are invited to this talk, if they so wish. Belinda and her helpers have also planned an exhibition of HISC memoribilia following on from this talk, and that exhibition will be on view on Friday  afternoon, most of Saturday and probably Sunday morning.  Belinda might well need some help during this time, but we could discuss that at our various metings. This exhibition wil be open to any interested member of the club.

Finally (you all breathe a sigh of relief) Lyn Bodilly has organised  a guided  walk around the nature reserve  at Sandy Point on April 25th, we are to meet at the car-park near the Lifeboat House at 10 a.m. and a guy will take us round and point out items that need to be pointed out. We can only have 30, and I already have some names for this. Hopefully we could organise a second walk if we get over subcribed. This will be followed by lunch in the club, and again all including non-walkers are very welcome. This will be our last gathering of the 2007/8 Season, and we will restart in the Autumn.
