Boat Park at HISC 2008 . . .

The biggest project we have been working this winter is the snappily called “boat parking project”. Over the last few years the numbers of boats kept at the club has been steadily increasing - by about 50 / 80 boats a year - to the point where we are now full.

At the 2007 Spring General Meeting we presented our plans for moving to “named boat” parking and this winter we have been laying out the boat park so that each dinghy will have a pre allocated space, changes include Re-laying the paths in the “east boat park”, increasing capacity. Moving the tenders from the beach. More Oppie racks and prototype laser / topper racking And a general tidy up.

With all this work we have been able to mark out 640 boat parking spots, but this is not enough and we will start to use a part of the causeway as an overflow. For this year we are working to make sure that anyone who had a boat registered last year will have a space, for new boats we currently have a waiting list. Please be assured that we are working as hard as possible to fit everyone in and once we have completed the re-registration of last years boats we will work through the waiting list.

For future years we are looking at a “use it or lose” it policy where boats that are not used do not get places. Before bringing a boat to the club please call our Marine department to make sure there is an allocated space.

In the mailing will be your Yearbook, Youth Training week info, Family Fun week entry form, boat plaques and car park plaques. Any questions please don’t hesitate to call us here in the office.
