HISC Regatta Sunday 8 August 2010 . . .

The Dinghy and Cruiser NOR for the HISC 2010 Regatta are now posted. The regatta will take place on Sunday 8 August.

Please note that due to High Water being at 10.40am and that we want to encourage other Federation Clubs to take part, we have a first start of 10.30am. Entry from 09:00am at HISC - MW

Chichester Harbour FED Week 2010 - Monday 9 Aug to Friday 13 Aug
On-Line Entry is now open . . .

On-line entries have started to arrive for this years FED Week which runs from Monday 9 Aug to Friday 13 Aug. On-Line entry will be available until Friday 6 August 2010.

On-line entry provides a faster and more accurate means of entering your details into the event database and simplifies the registration process at HISC when you arrive. Once entered and paid via the On-Line entry form you only need to collect your Race information pack at the FED Week Event Office on arrival at HISC. On-Line entrants can collect their Race Packs at the FED Event Office from 13:00 to 18:00 hrs on Sunday 8 August or on Monday 9 August from 08:00 hrs.

Class racing is available for the RS200, RS400, RS Elite, Flying15, Finn, Laser, Laser Radial/4.7, Solo, RS Feva, Topper and Optimist. Plus, handicap racing for all other classes, split into, Fast Asymmetric + Foilers, Med Asymmetric, Fast H'cap, Medium H'cap and Slow H'cap events. - GN

Laser Worlds at HISC Update. . .

As the Laser World Championships are fast approaching I would like to update you with regards to what will be happening at the club over this period. Please click the link to read the latest information for members on this event - Mark Wood, Commodore

Nigel M Pusinelli CMG, OBE, MC . . .

It is with great sadness that we report that Nigel Pusinelli, Admiral of Emsworth Sailing Club, former Chairman of both Chichester Harbour Federation and Chichester Harbour Conservancy, died on 17 July at the age of 91.

Nigel had suffered from failing health in recent months but had made major contributions to Emsworth Sailing Club and Chichester Harbour, as well as holding posts at both the RYA, and RYA Southern Region. He was an avid supporter and organiser of Federation Week, frequently among the prizewinners in the Solo Class.

A Memorial/Thanksgiving Service will be held on Monday 2 August 2010 at St Johns’ Church, Westbourne, Emsworth, followed by refreshments at Emsworth Sailing Club.

HISC is now on Summer Opening Time ie., From 7 July to 19 September the Bar and Restaurant are open at the following times, subject to demand . . .

Main Bar
Monday to Sunday - 12:00hrs to 23:00hrs (Subject to demand ie more than 10 people in the bar drinking at 8pm)

Dining Room
Breakfast - Monday to Sunday - Breakfast 08:00 to 10:30hrs (Monday and Tuesday only when accommodation is occupied)

Lunch - Monday to Sunday - Lunch available 12:00 to 14:30hrs from the servery or the Snack Bar.

Dinner - Tues to Saturday - 19:00 to 21:00hrs. Sunday 18:00 to 20:00hrs.

Snack Bar - Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 17:00hrs. Week days – whenever an event is taking place at the Club. - CL

HISC at RS Feva Worlds. . .

Owen Bowerman and Charlie Darling win RS Feva Worlds Owen and Charlie finished off their event in the perfect way with a win to be the only boat in the fleet with all top 10 finishes in the counting scores and that was that – RS Feva World Champions! HISC at 505 Worlds. . .

Ian Pinnell and Ian Mitchell are competing at the 505 Worlds in Denmark. They won the first race and were seventh in the second. Check the news ticker above for latest news. - GN

HISC at Youth Championships. . .

Lots of HISC juniors are racing this week at various youth events. Check the news ticker above for links to these events, including the Optimist Nationals, the RS Feva and the RS Tera events. - GN

Entries for the HISC Youth Week are now over 100 - Final day for On-Line entry is this Saturday, 31 July. A News Page for the event has been posted and gives details of the event and links to the NOR, Entry etc. - GN

HISC at Laser U-21 Europeans . . .

Stuart Godwin won the U-21 Laser Europeans on Saturday in Poland, moving from eighth in the final two races to take the Gold. See the news ticker for more information. - GN

HISC at RS Elite Nationals . . .

Eight HISC RS Elites took part in the 2010 Nationals at the Royal Lymington YC. Crauford McKeon sailing with Andrew Cape and Rupert from Royal Lymington was the winner.

Best placed from HISC was Mike Tong's Ciao Bella in 9th with 10th Escapade, Graham Hughes. - GN

As you know, Mengeham Rythe Sailing Club has kindly offered to expand their own club racing to include starts for our boats over the three weekends of the Laser events later this year (4/5, 11/12, 18/19 September.)

HISC heading to Laser 4.7 Europeans . . .

Three of the HISC youth have managed to qualify for the Laser 4.7 Europeans and are off to France at the end of July.

Anthony Parke and Will Sellers have been training with the National Laser 4.7 squad during the winter and were joined for the Summer Squad by Ollie, Will's younger brother. We wish them good luck at the Europeans and then the Laser Nationals. - TP
