Club Pennant Weekend . . .
The Pennant Weekends have been a great success this season and this coming weekend you have the chance to take part in the final event. One race on Saturday and two on Sunday with prizegiving after event. - GN

Club Harbour Challenge . . .
As (I hope) you know, the annual Harbour Challenge will take place over the same weekend as the Tide Ride, 9/10 September. This event aims to send the competitors to parts of the Harbour we rarely visit and around marks some may never even have heard of - hence the "Challenge" title!

This year we are sailing on one of the highest springs of the year, and for that reason I am particularly anxious that we run the race around high water (13:15 Saturday, 13:59 0n Sunday, 5.2m both days). For this reason, the start is 12:00 on Saturday and 13:00 on Sunday. This allows us to go up-harbour with the flood and back on the ebb (or thereabouts). A more conventional Saturday start would see us sailing on the full ebb, which would seriously seriously disadvantage the slower boats.

The race is open to anyone not competing in the Tide Ride, and will specifically avoid the areas in which the Tide Ride is being run. While wishing to encourage as large an entry as possible, I should add that this race is perhaps not ideal for the novice or those in the very slowest boats. Given that, please do encourage your fleets to turn out and enjoy an interesting jaunt to the more remote corners of Chichester Harbour.

See you on the 9th - Greg Lamb.

HOLT Tide Ride 2006 at HISC . . .

There will be a party on Saturday night for competitors and the entry fee of £35.00 includes food. Click the link below for the entry form. More details posted as received. - CD

RS Elite Open Day . . .
An "Open Day" has been arranged at HISC on Saturday 14 October to enable club members and other potential RS Elite sailors to sample our wonderful yachts, mix with existing owners and be able to ask any questions they may have. The day will end with supper at Bill and Helen Bishop's house at Langston.

We hope this will help the growth of our class particularly at HISC. As many of you may know, there are currently 2 Elites (Nos 3 and 12) up for sale so we want these to be placed under new active ownership as soon as possible and hope that the day will help on this as well.

On this front, Bill Bishop (from No 3, Fidelity) is teaming up with Ed "Scooterman" from No 12 and only need one more local part-owner to make up a syndicate for Fidelity. So any ideas to Bill please! Please let me know of your interest in the day. - MT

HISC Website . . .
August had another 46,000 plus visitors to the HISC website, compared with 25,221 in 2005. While figures have increased steadily year on year, 2006 is proving to be something of a break-through. The viewing figures have already easily passed last years total figures.

There are still a number a ways that the website can be expanded to provide new services/information to tne members and I hope that in 2007 the website will be able to add some of these features. - GN

Baby Club at HISC . . .
Next Baby Club will be held on Friday 29 Sept. Meet 11.30 in the main bar or beach if lovely weather. As usual bring toys and food for the children, club food available for adults. I look forward to meeting those new babies that have been spotted around the club in the past few weeks. - NK

A brisk, yet warm, north westerly force four to six greeted the sailors for Monday's Cock of the Harbour pursuit race. The Fed Week style course gave most of the classes a great blast around with many capsizes and only 22 finishers.
