The Winter Season 2014/15
It is already time to start planning the squad activity for winter 2014/15.
We are delighted to announce Julian Pearson as the head coach for the HISC Tera Squad. Julian is an experienced coach who works with the Feva Class regularly and is helping to put together an exciting winter programme for the HISC Tera squad.
This years training will take place over 5 weekends.
Dates are: 15/16 Nov, 6/7 Dec 2014 and 24/25 Jan, 21/22 Feb, 7/8 Mar 2015
Open to all HISC Tera sailors, who are not members of other Tera squads. It is aimed at regular HISC Tera sailors keen to sail over the winter months looking to move up to the next level of sailing. It is suitable for all sailors who are looking to become better club sailors or looking to move up to Regional and National squads in the 2015 season. It is not suitable for beginners.
Spaces will be limited and priority will be given to HISC sailors who have shown they meet the required standard and regularly take part in club racing and events.
If you are interested in taking part this winter please email: firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or to register interest.
The New Season
The HISC Youth season will start on Saturday 5 April with a Season Launch Party including a presentation to parents on the year ahead and youth disco. To blast off those cobwebs, we will also be running our Rust Remover earlier that day. This is a coached sailing session aimed at sailors who haven’t been out over the colder months. More information to follow.
We have a packed calendar of events ahead of us. Dates for your diary are Youth Training Week over May half term, the RS Tera Southerns 14/15 June and Youth Race Week 4 to 8 August. Look out for the All Fleet Fun Day, a day of fun on the water on Sunday 10 August. Beyond this, there is a Youth Racing Tournament on Sunday 17 August, the HISC Regatta on Saturday 2 August, MRSC Regatta on Sunday 24 August and the HISC Youth Regatta on Saturday 30 August.
Every Saturday afternoon in June, July and August there is Youth Supervised Sailing – these are practice sessions with the help of an instructor. RYA Courses are also available and run throughout the year. Details can be found in the HISC training booklet and on the Youth Training Page.
Any further events will be promoted via email through the HISC Yahoo group and our HISC RS Tera Facebook page.
RS Tera Racing
For those who want to race there is Youth racing on Sundays at 11 am with a 10 am briefing, in or outside the training rooms. New racers may fly a red ribbon to identify themselves to other racers and safety. During the briefing the Race Officer will explain the race course, allocate a red ribbon and ask if anyone wants a 'buddy' to sail with out to the race course before racing.
Throughout the season there will be a number of race series run over the course of three weekends, with prizes after the last race. Once a month there‘s a Pennant weekend with three ‘open meeting’ style races on both Saturday and Sunday. See the Youth Fixture List.
If anybody wants more information or has input on the 2014 HISC RS Tera Season then please get in touch with us by email to email@example.com or at the club, we value your ideas and support.
Looking forward to seeing you all for a fun packed 2014 season.
