All Optimist owners - Put your boat in the right place
A lot of boats are coming back to the club after the winter. Please be aware that if you leave your boat in an allocated space it is likely to be moved by a returning boat. Equally boats left round by the scruntineers shed will be moved to the area by the dunes rack.

This area must be kept clear to enable access to the racks. Today some sailors could not get to their boats because of the sudden influx of boats left in front of the racks. If you see a boat there please don't think its O.K. to add yours. One or two boats gave up their spaces on the racks last year as they travel a lot to opens etc. These are the only boats that should be there.

Please be patient, once the racks are in place you will all have a space to keep your boat. - Tessa

T-shirt Competition
Thank you to everyone for sending in your designs for the new 2008 T-shirt. There were some super designs and it was very difficult to select one design, so we have chosen two designs, one for the front and one for the back.

Congratulations to Conway Parke and Alicia Campbell-Bottoms. As you weren't at the club on Sunday, there is a prize on its way for you. - TJ

Youth Training Week for HISC members
Youth Training Week for HISC members in the RS Feva and Optimist classes is from Tuesday 27 May until Friday 30 May. This is a very popular event and there is a restriction on the number of entries. Entry applications will only be accepted by email after 9am on Tuesday 8 April. See the NOR page for details of entry and the entry form. - GN

Optimist Sailors
I hear that the first Youth training session of the year went well. I would just like to draw your attention to a few things. The first time out there is often a bit of boat bimbling to do, so I'd just like to draw your attention to the safety section of the Youth pages, to make sure that your boat is up to scratch for the coming season. Please follow the quick link on the menu 'Opti Safety Equip'.

Also there may well be a few of you that haven't sailed your boats for a while and have therefore need a little bit of help on how to rig your Oppie, if so please follow the quick link on the menu 'Opti Rigging Guide'.

This year we have decided to combine the Feva and Optimist Racing, so I hope to see lots of you on the water. - Have fun - Tracy Jacobs, Rear Commodore Youth. 17th March '07

New Optimist and RS Feva NOR for 2008 club racing posted
The updated NOR for HISC Youth club racing in the Optimist and RS Feva classes is now available. Check the LH side menu. - GN

A request to all Parents of Youth sailors
I have had many comments from non-sailing parents over the season who would like to help the Youth Section but feel they are either unable or unqualified because they are not experienced sailors themselves. As part of my new role as Rear Commodore Training I am keen to encourage as many people as possible to become active participants of the club. - DD

Optimist sailors or past sailors
Our numbers have increased this year and I have an every growing list of people who would like a space for their boat. If you have moved on from optimists and no longer require your space can you please let me know as it will be a great help in getting organised for next year. - Tessa
