Welcome to the Seals Section of HISC Website
HISC SEALS is aimed at getting the Under 10s happy and confident on and in the water!
HISC SEALS is an informal group (no additional membership is required), aimed at holding ad hoc events on the water for families with young children. The intention is to promote opportunities for these children (and their parents!) to get on the water more, with the ethos of having fun with 'safety in numbers'.
If the forecast is looking good then an email will go out through the HISC Yahoo Group and a SEAL Facebook Group (http://bit.ly/9GWF2y) promoting a forthcoming SEAL event. SEAL events are about fun and getting on the water and not about racing or training (other youth groups cover this), and novices are actively encouraged to join in. Optimists, Teras, Kayaks, windsurfers, body boards, paddle boards... anything goes, it all just helps to get the children used to being on the water in a safe environment as well as having great fun with friends and meeting new people along the way.
HISC seals is run by volunteers so please do help out where you can! Parents remain responsible for their children at all times, and life jackets are mandatory.. Where possible, a safety boat may be on hand to assist, but this is not guaranteed. HISC Crew and volunteers running these fun events take no responsibility for participants' safety.
