To provide a practical introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats. The course may be conducted in a variety of boat types, both plaining and displacement, and the certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat in which training took place.
RYA Powerboat Courses
Our RYA Powerboat Courses will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge needed to confidently operate a powerboat. They are ideal if you’re looking to drive the Club RIBs as part of your duty, or if you’re considering using a powerboat regularly for your own sailing and watersports activities.
Our RYA Courses are open to both members and non-members.
RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling
This two day course will provide you with the skills and background knowledge needed to become a competent powerboat driver and forms the basis of the International Certificate of Competence.
RYA Safety Boat Course
To introduce the techniques used in powerboats escorting racing fleets of dinghies and windsurfers, providing safety and rescue cover for training fleets, and assisting in race management
RYA Powerboat Level 2 Direct Assessment
Candidates will be put through a written examination based on basic navigation IRPCS, tide, weather and boat knowledge to the level of Powerboat 2.
HISC Safety Boat Lite
This course introduces the skills and techniques required to use a powerboat as an escort, safety or rescue boat for racing dinghy fleets. It is a locally focused course designed specifically for users of HISC.
