Christmas Fair Review 2025

The fair was lovely festive event, ensuring a fabulous run up to Christmas. Many members gave their time and got involved, which created a great atmosphere for everyone who attended, volunteers and guests alike!

Sarah Muir and her team offered delicious baked treats on their stall. Volunteers chatted with guests and ran the raffle, tombola, guess the weight of the cake and many more games. Individual stall holders offered interesting and useful stocking fillers and Christmas gifts for sale.

Big thanks to Nick Griffiths, Bev Wheeler, and the crew who supported professionally and always with a smile, ensuring a really smashing HISC Christmas Fair. This year WAVE (Hayling youth community centre), the RNLI and Final Straw Foundation provided a great community feeling and awareness. There was something for everyone including a Christmas Craft stall for children and adults – Big thanks to everyone who helped with or attended this super event.

I thought last year’s results were unbeatable but you have made it happen again: Sunday’s cake stall total sales were £1,775.25.  Staggering!   25% of this, £443.81, is for Thursday Club and 75%, so £1,331.44, to Wave.

It could not be done without a lot of effort by many people: huge thanks to our bakers, makers, and background helpers (washing up, testing(!), deliveries, clearing up), box makers, and the selling team:  Sally Elder, Caroline McIntyre, Sarah Smith, Emma Toman, Kate Peters, Alli Wiltshire, Jayne Willis, Sheena Button, Jen Heath, Gill Browning, Brenda Pike, Karen Litchfield, Gusti Taylor, Kirsten’s Mum, Lyn Smith, Carol Carter, Pam Chrismas, Jean Buchanan, Laura Denby, Sue Bannister, Rachel Ghinn, Helen Everest, Clive Everest, Mike McIntyre, Jamie Muir and Nick Griffiths, Bev Wheeler and the HISC House and Bar team for their support.  I hope I have caught all names, many apologies if not.

Last and most thanks go to all of you who bought from us, whether it was one piece to eat there and then, or a box full to take away, or both!  What a fantastic result you gave us.
And apologies for those of you who weren’t able to purchase a Christmas Cake.  We had made about two dozen including GF, but many were reserved before the day.  Please do contact me if you would like to reserve one for next year.

Have a wonderful Christmas
